@Montecarlo10254 – Exactly! Atari is an American system. Sure, the VCS really is the very first reputable console, so I see where you’re coming from; but it isn’t the first overall. Also remember the US was/is arguably the strongest market for vids, which is why I think the NES deserves more credit, because certain other countries decided to move the game on, pun intended.

Then, several manufacturers have started to mount the Atari with most of the parts made here (except the microchip, of course), thus creating a myriad of Atari 2600 consoles much different than American originated. As the cartridges, where each company made their labels and names of different games for the government not fining them or even close them.

Here in Brazil we had a troubled history of the Atari when he arrived in mid-83 because of a stupid law called “market reserve”. Well, speaking briefly, was a law prohibiting electronic equipment and computer (including video games) imported to protect the internal market
