Playstation 1 used CD discs. DVD (PS2) and Blu-ray (PS3) have more storage space for the games so that means less discs.
How come final fantasy for playstation has more disk than the other playstations?
how come they reduced the numbers of disk in final fantasy for playstation 2 and 3? what did more disk do for the playstation 1 finalfantasys.

It’s a combination of two things:
1) Disk space. PS1 CDs held 650MB. PS2 DVDs were 4.6 or 8.5 GB. PS3 Blu-Rays are even bigger.
2) FF7 was spread across 3 disks, but only about 200MB of each disk was game data (and it was the entire game’s data on each disk). The rest of each disk was pre-rendered cutscenes (which take up a huge amount of space). The PS2 Final Fantasies had very few pre-rendered cutscenes, instead using the in-game graphics engine, which takes very little disk space.
