How to Level Fast in WoW

Ok, so you want to roll a new toon to get into that raid guild, since they don’t seem to want your current one. You roll it up and realize that, even if you play 24/7, it will take at least a week to get to the top level. And then your brain will fall out from lack of sleep. This is why some resort to something called Power Leveling. If that’s the route you decide to take then consider some possible options…

Scripts

So you want a mostly automated set of scripts to play your WoW toon from some level to some, much higher, level? It’s called “botting” and it’s hated by other players (who don’t ‘bot.) That isn’t so important. It’s also hated by Blizzard and they will ban your account if they catch you. But let’s say you don’t care. Silly you.

Basically what you will be doing here is loading up a set of scripts (google them) which will play your character for you. You have to do some set up work and make sure the character reacts well to this and that, but people have done that and so can you. Once debugged and running, if you still have your account, you can set it to grind out some serious levels while you do something else. By tthe way, many players hate botters and will report you on sight (and try to kill your character, if they can.)

Buying

Is it surprising that some enterprising types wil play your character for you, in exchange for money, and level it from X to Y? They’ll even get some sweet gear and a fair chunk of gold for you (for more money.) So yeah, they’ll take your brand new level 1 and take it all the way to 80 (or 85 when Cataclysm hits) and leave you with gold and sweet gear.

Of course, if you get caught you will lose your account and whatever money you paid to get that toon leveled. And you’re giving a 3rd party access to your account, but you trust them, right?

Don’t forget that this is against Blizzard Terms of Service and that they will happily ban your account if they catch you.

Instance Rushing

Here’s a way that’s perfectly legal: grab a high level character from your guild, friends, game chat, or your second account, and have that character rush you through one ormany dungeons.

This can be a very fast way to level. The high level toon kills everythng far faster than a low level team and you get the XP and goodies that the mobs drop.

Leveling Guides

Basically all a leveling guide does is tell you where to go and what to do, hopefully in the most efficient manner possible. You go to area A, grab a bunch of quests or kill a bunch of mobs, and when you level a bit you head to the next area. Guides show you the best path to follow and the best order to do things. These guides are available as freebies or as paid guides. Typically the freebies are in the form of a web page, like these wow levelig guides, or as a PDF.

The paid guides generally come as in-game widgets which literally point the way and track stuff for you. Some will take you the solo route and others will take you through the various dungeons (yes, there are some dungeon leveling guides out there.) The latter is, in theory, faster, you just have to enjoy grouping. They almost make fast leveling too easy.

Leveling Tips

You can get double XP by logging out of the game at any Inn. When you come back you will get that double XP for awhile, depending on how long you were away. The Recruit-a-Friend system is even better. Bring a friend into the game, link accounts, and get triple XP.

There are other little things that will speed the leveling process, such as making sure you don’t have to go back to town very often. Adequate supplies, bag space, and so on will help with that. Travelling as little as possible between quests will also help. Therre are also various web guides out there that will help with specific character tips, such as this Rogue leveling guide.
