A video game will not help you. It would be like playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater and then expect to hit kickflips all day long. I first learned how to drive a manual transmission at around 11 by my cousin who used to store his ATV in my backyard. It was a hand clutch (which is really not that different) and due to the weight and lack of torque compared to a car, it would have been extremely difficult to cause damage. When I got my license, my father tried teaching me how to drive and he was a little baffled that I had gotten it down so quickly.

It is a big not so virtual reality controller called a car. You have that. Start out on flat ground, maybe out in the corner of a large parking lot and practice letting the clutch out and giving it enough gas so it doesn’t stall or buck but not so much that you race the engine and burn out the clutch. Make sure that you let the clutch out all the way too, finally.

No game will give you the feel for clutch and throttle balance. Only real experience. And it is not that hard. You can do it.

the best thing to do is find a little up hill grade in your yard or empty parking lot and just keep practicing with the clutch till u can take off with out it stalling

the easy part of driving a stick shift is moving the handle from gaer to gear, so the controller you use won’t teach much. Any game that allows you to shift in manual mode will help you to become familiar with the sound an engine makes when its time to shift.
The hardest part of driving a stick, however, is getting it into first and learning the clutch and no game will really teach this. Borrow / rent a newer car to practice on so you don’t wreck your “really old” one since it will likely have a fragile clutch.

No video game can teach you how to drive a stick.

You need to drive a real car to learn. The most important part of learning a stick is your left foot on the clutch pedal.

Go to a big, wide open parking lot with somebody who has a stick and learn there. The hardest part is starting from a dead stop.

ummm driving games dont help out much…. other than learning when to shift before you over rev…its quite easy…shift before redline..but id have to say grand turismo..or nascar…
