What’s the difference between playstation 3 blue-Ray and just a blue ray player?

This is like comparing a cellphone store (blu-ray player) and a store that sells cellphones and a few other things (playstation 3). The cellphones store is going to have both a better selection and a better range in prices. However, the store that sells more things may other things that you want besides a phone.

Likewise, the advantage of the the blu-ray player is that it is better in every way than the playstation but ONLY in what it was meant to do; play blu-ray discs.
The advantage of the playstation 3 is that while it does not play the blu-ray movies as good as a standalone blu-ray player, it can do many other things that the player cannot.

In the end the decision is yours. Do you simply want a great blu-ray player, then get a standalone blu-ray player. If you want a good enough blu-ray player, a game console, and other things, then get a playstation 3.

on top of all that you get a great game console and can store music , video and photos on the user upgradeable hard drive

I just happen to own both. Blu-Ray came with my Tv and a PS3 for a b’day present. The PS3 is a full multimedia concept and the PS3 does have a faster processor but with new Blu-Ray models coming out the disk readers on these players are likely to be faster as well. Maybe thats why they brought out the new PS3 slim.
I think im arguing with myself. Not a good sign for me. Hope this helps
